i believe we are the product of evolution, i think it rediculous to doubt science in this matter.. .

but what will the evolution of energy and matter finally end up as????.

abbadon brought up an essay about, "teilhard de chardin and the noosphere", and posted it in another thread,, it is very interesting here the link for the essay:.

ok, i just got the latest wt that has big flaming numbers 666 on the front.

i skimmed through it but naturally it's pretty vague on who they think makes up this beast that has this number.

personally, i've always felt that there will be an individual antichrist (like hiter) who tries taking over the world.

The great harlot is Nero's mother who committed fornication with Nero and was the inspiration of much anti-Christian persecution. Her devastation was allegorical when Nero turned on her and had her killed.

Very interesting. Doesn't it all make much more sense when you read about the history of the times. The same reason the book of Daniel makes more sense when applied to the Seleucid kings and anti-Jewish persecution.

I think this sums up the difference between a care home run as a business and a voluntary care home:

    Care Homes: residential homes
Most residential care homes are owned and run by organisations or individuals for profit. There are still a few which are owned by the local authority. Voluntary homes are run on a non-profit making basis by bodies such as registered charities or religious denominations.

A normal run-for-profit nursing or residential home will need to ask questions about savings and assets as this affects the funding of a bed in the home and whether a bed is available or not. The number of purely social services run homes is declining and social services tend to rent rooms from privately run homes. Also a privately run care home will also have a registered charitable fund, to accept donations and to pay in money raised by events, summer fetes, bring-and-buy sales etc.

I have no problem with some guy or woman deciding there was a gap in the market and opening some nursing homes solely for JWs. I think he'd be in trouble with 'equal oportunities' for the JW-only staffing policy though. They can ask for donations and could register as a charity to accept money.

Just reading through the pages on the website has left me with a few questions. The way both charity and religion are stressed on the website makes it appear as though it is a voluntary religious home, in which case the figures quoted by Nicolau would be money to the Watchtower Society and not 'net profit' to an individual. But wouldn't the charity then be registered to the Watchtower Society?

I also wonder if any finance or capital to open these homes has been borrowed from the WTS, the same way that loans are given to Kingdom Halls, which are then dedicated back to the Society once paid for?

    Interesting.

mine is from friday, the movie with ice cube, where a couple of jw ladies wake up ice cube's character's family one morning and there's some mouthing off, and you wouldn't believe the nasty words coming out of these sweet looking old "sisters".

    hilarious!.

The bit in Airplane is pretty funny where the captain is trying to run through the terminal and keeps getting stopped by religious types like the moonies, mormons, Jehovahs Witnesses. He ends up punching and throwing them all out of his way.

Spike Milligan did a sketch once, years and years ago, where he was a Jehovahs Witness boxer!! He had his hands tied behind his back while the other boxer just hit him. Between every round it cut to a large crowd at a district assembly loudly clapping! (not sure how they filmed that!).

I also remember some detective program which had a Jehovahs Witness character in it. The guy looked a bit of a nerd with large NHS spectacles on and a large tweed coat. I turned to my brother and said -"well he sure looks like a witness!!" He just cracked up, then I got a clip round the ear from mother!
